Intimidation Clothing Athlete of the Month: Isaiah “The Beast” Chapman

Sometimes a person just oozes star power and the potential for success can be spotted from a mile away. That’s the situation that unbeaten professional fighter Isaiah “The Beast” Chapman finds himself in. Isaiah Chapman MMANot only does he have a spotless professional record of 4-0, but he also went 12-1 in his amateur career and won the NAAFS national amateur series in the bantamweight division twice.

A decorated amateur wrestler who had multiple Division I scholarship offers, he decided instead to dedicate his life to mixed martial arts. Training out of Rock Hard MMA and Unique Fitness in Akron, Ohio, an official Intimidation dealer, Chapman is already a black belt in Judo and an accomplished boxer. At just 23 years old, the sky is the limit for Chapman’s fighting career.

What’s even better is that anybody who talks to Chapman comes away impressed with his poise, respect, and somewhat reserved nature, considering that he makes a living punching others in the face.

Chapman’s best tool, however, could be his resolve and his heart. He appeared to be down and out when put in multiple bad positions by the more experienced Dustin Kempf in his last outing at NAAFS Night of Champions in December 2012. Isaiah Chapman MMABut Chapman never gave up and eventually ended the fight just before the bell in the second round with a guillotine choke. Kempf appeared to have stopped the Chapman train before it ever really got started on a large scale, but instead “The Beast” showed that giving up isn’t in his DNA. For their performance, both fighters were honored with the Ohio Fight of the Year Award by OHMMA.com, and Chapman was named the Fighter of the Year for the perfect 4-0 start to his career that he rattled off in 2012.

As a result of the thrilling start to his pro MMA career, which includes three stoppages in his four fights, Isaiah Chapman is officially the Intimidation Clothing Sponsored Athlete of the Month for February 2013. “We are pleased to announce Isaiah Chapman as our Athlete of the Month,” stated Luke Jernigan, President & CEO of Intimidation Clothing, LLC. “Not only does Isaiah fit the mold of the kind of person Intimidation looks to sponsor, but he also has as high a ceiling as most anyone we have worked with here at Intimidation. We are honored to have worked with Isaiah since mid-way through his amateur MMA career and intend to sponsor him for years to come.”

Isaiah Chapman MMAThe Northeast Ohio product will return to action on March 30th, when he competes yet again for NAAFS at Caged Vengeance 13 in Canton, Ohio. While the fight is expected to be for the promotion’s vacant bantamweight title, no opponent has been announced to date.

Intimidation Clothing had yet another successful weekend, with sponsored fighters picking up wins in three different events in two states. Isaiah Chapman MMAIsaiah Chapman, Torrance Taylor, and Chase Beebe picked up wins in the professional ranks as all represented the popular clothing brand en route to victories, moving each a little further up the MMA ladder.

Intimidation Clothing sponsored both the top-ranked bantamweight and top-ranked lightweight in the state of Ohio at NAAFS: Night of Champions 2012, and both came away victorious with stoppage wins. Isaiah Chapman moved his unbeaten professional record to 4-0 with a second round guillotine submission over Dustin Kempf, who was also sponsored by Intimidation. The fight was a clear favorite for Fight of the Year in the state of Ohio, and “The Beast” remains perhaps the top bantamweight prospect in the United States. Known as “The Tyrant,” Taylor picked up his second TKO victory of the year after being out for an extended period to finish school. The Cleveland native stopped Gino DiGiulio in the second round of a back-and-forth bout in the co-main event at Night of Champions.

At Flawless Fighting Championships 2 in Chicago, Intimidation-sponsored fighter Chase Beebe picked up a unanimous decision over The Ultimate Fighter 15 alum Chris Tickle in the night’s co-main event. Torrance Taylor MMABeebe moved his overall record to 24-7-1 and won for the sixth straight time; he also stayed unbeaten while being sponsored by the Intimidation brand. On the same card, Garrett Gross suffered a disappointing loss but had a great performance.

Isaiah Chapman defeats Dustin Kempf in Fight of the Year performance at NAAFS Night of Champions

December 16, 2012 by
Filed under Event Sponsorships, Fighter Sponsorships, News, Sponsorships

As soon as Isaiah Chapman (@TheBeastChapman) vs. Dustin Kempf (@DustinKempf) was announced, fans familiar with both fighters knew it would be the toughest test of Chapman’s young career. Isaiah Chapman v Dustin KempfDustin Kempf is no stranger to tough, fan-thrilling fights and facing top-tier fighters, and Kempf at 135lbs, after fighting at 145lbs throughout his career, was certain to be a huge test for Chapman. A product of Rock Hard MMA in Akron, Isaiah Chapman was a 2-time NAAFS Amateur Champion at 135lbs and already 3-0 since turning pro in 2012. The fight proved to be everything the MMA fans of Northeast Ohio could have hoped for and so much more.

Entering the cage Kempf looked huge at 135lbs as the two traded shots. A thrilling 1st round saw the two trade punches and kicks at a frantic, crowd-pleasing pace. The sellout crowd of likely close to 2,000 or more screamed for both popular fighters and did not quiet down throughout.

In the 2nd round the pace did not slow as the two traded early, but Chapman soon trapped Kempf against the cage and unloaded a fury or punches, elbows and knees as Kempf covered up. After 30+ seconds of blocking and eating the shots Kempf escaped and eventually the fight went to the ground where Dustin attempted multiple submission attempts only to see Chapman escape. A triangle choke and armbar attempt appeared to have Chapman in trouble as Kempf then landed several elbow strikes to the head of Chapman causing blood to pour from his hairline. But Chapman was able to escape as the two returned to their feet late in the round before Chapman locked in a guillotine choke to force the tap with just seconds remaining in the 2nd.

Isaiah Chapman MMAWhat this fight showed fans across the region is that these two warriors, who happen to be two of the nicest guys one will ever meet, have the skills and the heart to beat most anyone who steps into the cage with them. What this fight showed the sponsor of both fighters, Intimidation Clothing, is that we are working with two of the best, two fighters who make us proud, win or lose.

Dustin Kempf falls to 6-6 with the loss in his first fight since suffering a major knee injury at Bellator 51 in September 2011. For Chapman, he improves to 4-0 as a pro following his decorated 11-1 amateur career. What is ahead for either fighter is anyone’s guess, although a rumored NAAFS Bantamweight Championship fight is expected for Chapman. One thing in for sure – both fighters have a sponsorship for life with Intimidation.

Intimidation to sponsor Blackwell, Chapman, Hawk, Kempf & Taylor at NAAFS Night of Champions in Medina, Ohio

Intimidation Clothing is unparalleled in its sponsorship of Northeast Ohio fighters, and that trend will continue at NAAFS Night of Champions 2012 on Dec. 15 in Medina, where the popular clothing brand will be represented by at least five professional fighters on one of the year’s biggest cards.

John Hawk MMA“Big” John Hawk (7-4) will make his return to the NAAFS cage after a 2-1 stint in Bellator, where he may not be done making waves on a national level. Originally slated to take on reigning 205lb champ Josh Stansbury, the former NAAFS heavyweight champion will now take on an opponent to be named as he looks for his third win in four outings. Of course Hawk is one of a select few fighters with their own signature tee from Intimidation (pictured) and fans can buy the John Hawk signature shirt online at IntimidationClothing.com.

Intimidation will also sponsor both fighters in what is sure to be an electrifying lightweight title bout. Torrance “Tyrant” Taylor (10-9-1) will take on Terry Blackwell (3-1) in a match-up of two of the hottest 155-pound fighters in the state. Taylor made his return to the cage in August after an extended layoff, but there was no rust, as he put a beatdown on Tom Waters to earn a third round TKO. Known for his flashy striking, Taylor has also rounded out the grappling part of his game and figures to be a tough out as he is now able to focus more on training after earning his economics degree from Cleveland State University. Blackwell is the leader of Instigator Fight Team, and is riding a three-fight winning streak, including a decision victory over Brandon Suber in August. Also known for his striking, Blackwell is sure to provide tough opposition for the surging Taylor.

Dustin Kempf MMAIn another marquee bout, unbeaten bantamweight Isaiah “The Beast” Chapman (3-0) will look to stay unbeaten as he takes on Dustin Kempf (6-5) in what figures to be his toughest test to date. Chapman is riding an 11-fight winning streak dating back to his amateur career, where he was a two-time NAAFS National Amateur Champion. Coming off of a loss to the surging Frank Caraballo for the interim featherweight championship at Bellator 51, Kempf makes his return to the cage after an extended layoff and looks to make waves in a new lighter division.

Intimidation Clothing will also serve as a title sponsor of the NAAFS Night of Champions 2012 event, as it does for all NAAFS events.
