#LocalMMA Monday: Colosseum Combat MMA

Mixed martial arts events have been popping up across the country in cities big and small, with varying levels of success. Typically when you see an event in a smaller city you expect a smaller show, but that’s not the case in Kokomo, Indiana (population: 45,000).

Mark Slater - Colosseum Combat MMAColosseum Combat MMA is arguably the best organization in the state of Indiana, and it became so while operating solely in the state’s 13th largest city. Colosseum Combat has become a go-to for top amateur and professional fighters alike, and the “little organization that could” regularly attracts some of the best regional talent available in the Midwest.

Owner and promoter Mark Slater has helped grow the organization to become one of the best regional events in the country, with highlights regularly shown on AXS TV’s “Inside MMA.”

Slater took over as owner in 2009 after the organization was launched by Jay Martin in 2006.

“Jay had built a good reputation for the organization so it was easy to start where he left off and grow the promotion each show,” Slater said. He’ll run his 20th show as owner – Colosseum Combat’s 30th overall – on October 11th, once again in Kokomo.

UFC and Bellator MMA veteran Ryan Thomas is the organization’s current welterweight champion, and fighters like current UFC star Anthony Lapsley, UFC veteran Shamar Bailey, former WEC champion Chase Beebe, World Series of Fighting star Carson Beebe, and TUF veterans Dustin Neace, Daniel Head, and Casey Dyer have all competed inside the Colosseum Combat cage.

In addition to the big show veterans, regional stars like James Porter, Johnathan Ivey, Nick Kraus, Rob Morrow and Team Intimidation stars Bobby Emmons and Danny Surface have all graced Colosseum Combat MMA’s cage in the past.

With well-balanced matchmaking and ever-increasing fan support, Colosseum Combat stands out as a big-time player on the local MMA scene.

When asked about the reason for his success, Slater had this to say, “[Colosseum Combat] is a local MMA show where fighters can fight in front of a nice crowd in a professional setting.”

Intimidation Weekend Recap: Successful weekend sees Intimidation on display across the USA

The Intimidation brand had one of their busiest weekends of 2014  as Intimidation Clothing crews were busy in four different states over the weekend, including Ohio, New York, Michigan, and Indiana.

Colosseum Combat MMA girlsIntimidation’s Indiana crew headlined the weekend at one of the Midwest’s premier MMA promotions – Colosseum Combat in Kokomo, Indiana. Fans once again witnessed another solid pro/am fight card which can easily rival anyone in the Hoosier State as Mark Slater’s Colosseum Combat MMA continues to be one of the most consistent Local MMA promotions in the country.

The Intimidate Cancer crew was on hand at the Hubbard Leukemia Society Fundraising Family Day in Hubbard, Ohio. Those in attendance had a fantastic response to the Intimidate Cancer division of the company where a portion of the proceeds go to fund cancer and leukemia research.

Intimidation’s newly-formed New York crew was on hand in Fredonia at the latest New York State Grappling Championships event, which featured some of the best grapplers from the region competing in the submission tournament. Intimidation sponsored grapplers Rebecca Heintzman and And Intimidation’s Michigan crew was at Prison City Fight League’s “25 to Life” in Jackson, Michigan.

Josh Longood MMALongtime Team Intimidation member Josh Longood successfully closed out his amateur career, as the Ohio fighter made his way to Kentucky for Turf Wars 18. Longood (pictured, left) picked up the Turf Wars bantamweight title with a second round submission over Elliott Blair, and now looks forward to his professional career. Meanwhile Intimidation alum Mojo Horne picked up a win in the night’s main event at the same event.

Also, four Intimidation alums were in action at the Bellator 120 pay-per-view event, including Alexander Shlemenko, Fabricio Guerriero, Mike Richman, and Shahbulat Shamhalaev.

Looking ahead, Intimidation will have a major presence at this weekend’s PinnacleFC 7 event in Pittsburgh, where Out of the Cage Clothing will represent the brand at their official booth. Intimidation is also set to sponsor co-main event fighter Khama “The Death Star” Worthy, as well as Bobby “White Trash BJJ” Emmons in his late replacement bout against A.J. Bosley.

Intimidation Clothing is proud to announce sponsorship of rising bantamweight prospect Carson “Little Juggernaut” Beebe in his bout at Colosseum Combat XXII this weekend in Kokomo, Indiana. Beebe, the younger brother of former bantamweight world champion Chase Beebe, holds a 12-1 MMA record, including six consecutive wins.
