Weekend Recap: Record weekend sees Intimidation sponsored pro fighters score big wins in Ohio, Indiana & Michigan

Intimidation Clothing has long been a staple on the Midwest MMA scene, and Saturday night that was evident once again. While the brand served as a main sponsor of both the NAAFS and Colosseum Combat MMA pro/am events in Ohio and Indiana, as well as an event in South Carolina, the brand sponsored fighters at each event as well as in Michigan. Jessica Eye & Eye Believe MerchandiseIntimidation continues to prove to be the biggest supporter of local MMA in the region as a benchmark was set at Saturday’s NAAFS: Fight Nite in the Flats IX event in Cleveland. At the event held at the Jacobs Pavilion in The Flats, all six winners in professional bouts were sponsored by the Intimidation brand. Those winners included #1 ranked female flyweight Jessica Eye (pictured, left), new NAAFS interim lightweight champion Torrance Taylor, UFC veteran Forrest Petz, rising lightweight star George Comer and more. Intimidation also had a record breaking night at its official booth which featured over 50 different styles of Intimidation products as well as gear from Jessica Eye’s popular EYE Believe brand along with Soulless Clothing, Headlock Gear and Victory Fight Gear.

Top ranked flyweight Jessica Eye returned to action for the first time since upsetting former Bellator women’s champion Zoila Gurgel in December, and the Cleveland native picked up her seventh straight win with a clear cut unanimous decision over veteran and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt Carina Damm. Also sponsored by Intimidation partner Cast Iron Supplements, Eye is one of the most popular fighters in Ohio and continues to be one of the faces of Intimidation Clothing. Meanwhile, Eye’s longtime teammate at StrongStyle Martial Arts, Forrest “The Meat Cleaver” Petz, announced his retirement from MMA after nearly 40 professional fights and two stints in the UFC. Forrest Petz vs Chris CurtisFans were treated to the last fight from Ohio legend as the veteran and fan favorite took home a gritty decision win over top prospect Chris Curtis in a 170-pound affair that was clearly the fight of the night.  Petz showed off his impressive boxing skills to take home a unanimous decision in his final appearance in the cage.

Torrance Taylor picked up his fifth straight victory and third TKO in less than a year, as he claimed the organization’s interim lightweight title with a fourth round TKO victory over Terry Blackwell. Taylor continues to be one of the rising stars on the Ohio MMA scene and mentioned after the fight his desire to make it to a larger organization in the near future. Now training extensively with the Strong Style Fight Team in Cleveland, Taylor seems poised to indeed take that step as he seemingly has really turned a corner in his career.

Lightweight George Comer continues to inch toward a potential NAAFS title shot, as the GriffonRawl product earned his third straight victory with a unanimous decision over Brian Camozzi in one of the evening’s featured pro bouts. NAAFS in the FlatsBoth fighters came into the fight with lots of hype, with Camozzi being the younger brother of the UFC’s Chris Camozzi and Comer training at GriffonRawl with UFC veteran Jason Dent and Donny Walker. But it was Comer’s wrestling that won the fight, as he imposed his will and stayed in control for the entire 15 minutes to take home a sweep decision win.

Other pro fighters sponsored by Intimidation on the card were Hector Urbina and Maxim Grishin as well as Terry Blackwell, Nick Duell and Brian Camozzi. Amateurs RJ Buck, Jerrell Hodge and Sammy Callari were also sponsored by the brand.

Along with sponsoring the NAAFS event, Intimidation also served as a sponsor for Colosseum Combat XXV in Kokomo, Indiana. One of the best-run organizations in the Midwest, Intimidation had another successful night as UFC and Bellator veteran Ryan Thomas picked up a win in the main event to earn the organization’s welterweight title while sponsored by Intimidation. Brett Sbardella MMAThomas, sponsored by Intimidation for the first time, picked up his 4th straight win to improve to 16-7 in his 7-year pro MMA career. Meanwhile, at Big John’s MMA in Northern Michigan Brett Sbardella (pictured, right) picked up a victory via arm bar just 37 seconds into his bout to improve his pro record to 5-2.

Intimidation Clothing continues to grow into a regional player in the mixed martial arts world, as yet another weekend was highlighted with four crews selling in four different states. Intimidation sponsored and sold at XFC 23: Louisville Slugfest on Friday night, as well as Pinnacle Fighting Championships near Pittsburgh, Mad Wolf Promotions: Art of War 5 in Indianapolis, and EAC 4 North of Columbus in Fredericktown, Ohio.

Jason Cardillo - Pittsburgh MMAAt XFC 23 in Louisville, one of the biggest MMA events to hit the state of Kentucky in years, Intimidation was not only on hand with a full-stocked and busy booth throughout the night but the brand also sponsored both Luis “Sapo” Santos and Shamar Bailey in the night’s main event live on AXS TV. In addition to sponsoring both fighters in the night’s main event, Intimidation sponsored Invicta FC star Jessamyn “The Gun” Duke signed autographs and took pictures with fans at the company’s booth throughout the night.

At Pittsburgh Challenge Series 2 in the Steel City, Intimidation sponsored pros went 4-1 on the night’s main card, including a slick first round submission by Mark Cherico in the headliner. The win moved Cherico to 4-0 overall as a pro, with all 4 wins coming via submission in the first round. Cherico’s teammate Jason Cardillo (pictured, left) also stayed unbeaten in the co-headliner, moving his record to 6-0 with a second round submission over Tony Parker. Anthony Durnell moved his record to 2-0 in Pinnacle, earning a unanimous decision over Kyle Rozewski and Khama Worthy was impressive in his Unanimous Decision win. Bob Tipinski opened up the night’s main card with a disputed TKO loss, as the referee appeared to stop the bout early.

Brian Camozzi MMAIntimidation pros went 1-1 at Dakota FC in Fargo, North Dakota, with Canadian Matt “Kid Lightning” Veal coming up short in the main event featherweight title fight, while Amber Stauzenberger earned a unanimous decision in her fight as she continues to be seen as one of the up and coming strawweight prospects in women’s MMA. Brian Camozzi (pictured, right) also moved to 2-0 at the Sparta Combat League in Colorado with a first round stoppage.

Intimidation sponsored amateurs also picked up wins in both Ohio and Indiana. Tim Isaac earned a victory at EAC 4 in Fredericktown, while Nick Browning earned a win at Art of War 5 in Indianapolis. In addition, Intimidation’s Michigan crew was in attendance at events on Friday and Saturday night in Lakeview and Lansing, MI.

Intimidation sponsored pro fighters go 9-2-1 during weekend of record brand expansion

Intimidation Clothing has completed another record breaking weekend as the company sponsored six MMA events across the USA with crews selling at four of those events. Frank Caraballo & Nick Duell w/Intimidation CEO Luke Jernigan From South Dakota to Kentucky, the Intimidation brand continued its rapid brand expansion inside and outside of the world of Mixed Martial Arts while sponsored professional fighters went  9-2-1 overall. From thrilling finishes and dominating decisions to record sales at events, it is clear to see why Intimidation is one of the fastest growing brands of lifestyle apparel in the USA.

The action began on Thursday night as Intimidation was seen twice on SpikeTV and four sponsored fighters combined to go 3-0-1 inside the Bellator cage. Rodrigo Lima and James Edson Berto both saw their fights air on SpikeTV while Julien Williams was also able to come away with a win at Bellator 94 in Tampa, Florida.

The weekend portion started on Friday night in Chicago, Illinois where XFO 47 took place. In addition to sponsoring the event, the Intimidation brand was a first time sponsor of prospect Andre Feliciano as he improved to 3-0 as a pro with a unanimous decision win. George Comer MMAThe sponsorship of Feliciano and the XFO event continue the brand’s strong growth in the Chicago region with many pieces in place to rapidly expand in the coming months.

Saturday night the brand’s expansion continued as Intimidation sponsored a Fury Ultimate Cage Fighting event for the first time. As the FUCF promotion held another MMA event in Brookings, South Dakota, fans were treated to contests and giveaways throughout the night. Meanwhile, in Kokomo, Indiana, Colosseum Combat was in action with a solid pro/am card that continued the tradition of MMA excellence in Northeast Indiana. While Intimidation sponsored Bobby Emmons came up short of his goal in the Colosseum Combat pro featherweight title fight, there’s no doubt that the great MMA fans in Indiana will continue to get a heavy dose of Intimidation in the weeks and months to come.

In Canton, Ohio, the NAAFS put on their Caged Vengeance 13 event – one of their biggest events in recent memory. Featuring 7 amateur fights and 7 pro fights, the pro card alone featured two former champions in action, one current champ in a catchweight bout and the promotion’s inaugural bantamweight title fight. To add to that, two of the pros, George Comer and Isaiah Chapman, were both 2-time NAAFS amateur series champions. Widely regarded as one of the top MMA promotions in the Midwest, their Caged Vengeance 13 event did not disappoint as just two of seven amateur fights went the distance and both Tyler Walsh and RJ Buck scored impressive wins in finishing their opponents while sporting the Intimidation brand.

During the pro portion of the stacked card Team GriffonRawl’s George Comer (2-1) started things on a positive note with a 2nd round submission win over a submission specialist in Stephen Singleton (1-1 pro, 8-1 amateur). After a perfect 9-0 amateur career Comer, seen on the left in the Intimidation/GriffonRawl MMA Academy co-branded tee, dropped his pro debut but has bounced back with consecutive pro wins over Singleton and Khama Worthy.

Frank Caraballo MMAThe second pro bout of the night at Caged Vengeance 13 pitted one of the toughest light heavyweights on the planet in Cleveland’s John Hawk against Michigan product Ray Lopez (7-4). Hawk (8-4) was able to control the action throughout winning the battle on his feet and on the ground in a one-sided affair that saw “Big John” on the winning side of three 30-27 scorecards. NAAFS Featherweight Champion Frank “The Tank” Caraballo (pictured, right)was next to enter the cage and the bad blood created at weigh ins spilled over into his bout with Tony Hervey. Caraballo took little time to dispatch Hervey scoring a guillotine choke submission midway through the 1st round and then making sure his opponent knew who won. With the win Caraballo improved to 12-5 as a pro with 7 wins in his last 8 fights and he is now unbeaten in his past 8 NAAFS fights.

In a late addition to the card, TUF 16 veteran Julian Lane took a fight with former NAAFS Welterweight Champion Nick “The Savage” Duell on just 10 days’ notice. Antonio Castillo Jr. MMALane, fighting in his home state of Ohio for the first time since The Ultimate Fighter, traded with Duell for nearly two full rounds before Duell was able to score a TKO victory.

Duell and Lane were followed into the cage by Northern Ohio fan favorite Tony “The Mexican Muscle” Castillo, Jr. (pictured, left) facing undefeated Anthony Morgan. Castillo opened each round with a fury of punches before taking his opponent to the ground as he was able to grind out a lopsided decision win. The loss drops Morgan to 3-1 as a pro after a perfect 8-0 amateur career as he is slated to fight again in just three weeks opposite Intimidation sponsored Justin Steave at the Intimidation sponsored Pinnacle FC event near Pittsburgh. Castillo, a long time member of Team Intimidation, improved to 6-4 in his pro career with four wins in his last five fights.

In the night’s main event, Intimidation sponsored bantamweight Isaiah “The Beast” Chapman once again showed his warrior spirit on the night where his first signature shirt was released. Isaiah Chapman MMAChapman was unable to come away with the win, but he showed his toughness and grit by fighting through a full three rounds with a dislocated shoulder and without the use of his left hand. He was forced to throw in the towel after the fourth round, but it was clear that it wasn’t a decision that was made lightly.

Intimidation crews were also present at the MXC event in Cedar Springs, Michigan, and the Hardrock MMA 55 event in Louisville, Kentucky.

All in all, it was a record breaking weekend as Intimidation continues to grow across the Midwest and entire U.S.
