#LocalMMA Monday: MMAmadhouse.com

One of the beautiful parts of the #LocalMMA community is the symmetry that is felt, from fighters to organizations to sponsors. A major part of that symmetry is the growing Local MMA media. MMA Madhouse - Support Local MMAWith multiple websites dedicated to covering different regions of the Local MMA scene, there’s one major player that is a bastion for regional MMA coverage.

Founded in 2007, MMAmadhouse.com was originally dedicated to covering the UFC and Zuffa events exclusively. But when Carl Mortensen purchased the site in 2009, he realized that in order to stand out, he’d have to develop a niche that would bring fans from all over the globe. Instead of trying to compete with hundreds of other sites covering the same UFC events, he instead decided to take a different path.

I immediately dropped all the Zuffa content and launched my dream to dedicate MMAmadhouse.com to supporting local MMA on a global level with no borders!,” Mortensen said.

The initial days of the new MMAmadhouse saw the site covering mostly organizations in the U.S. Pacific Northwest and Canada, where Mortensen is based. Cage Zombies RadioBut then he contacted combat sports super fan Skippy Cohen, who eventually became Mortensen’s vice president after he helped take the page to new levels.

I’d always thought that I was a hardcore MMA fan but Skippy’s knowledge was light years beyond mine,” Mortensen said. “In no time I decided to give him the title of Vice President and we began slowly picking up other #TeamMadHouse members from across the globe to where we now have a family of nearly 40 people.”

MMAmadhouse also has its own radio network, with multiple popular shows including MMAmadhouse LiVE, FULL GUARD FIGHT RADIO, Cage Zombies Radio, and more. The shows highlight some of the biggest names in local MMA from around the globe, giving yet another outlet for fans to hear budding stars.

Local MMA - IntimidationIt’s not an understatement to say that MMAmadhouse would be on the Mt. Rushmore of Local MMA, and that’s a testament to the hard work and dedication that the site’s owners and staff show on a daily basis.

Our goal has always been to support aspiring fighters, journalists and photographers,” Mortensen said. “To give them an opportunity to become accustomed with media or interviewing fighters etc. To hone their skills outside of the ring.”

MMAmadhouse is a hub for Local MMA, giving fans of the sport a one-stop shop to witness a different type of MMA coverage. In short, MMAmadhouse puts a regional product on a global stage.

When asked to describe MMAmadhouse in one sentence, Mortensen stated simply, “We’re a lifeline of exposure.”

Fans can also follow MMAmadhouse, “Carl the Madman“, and Skippy Cohen on Twitter.

Last weekend in Charlotte was a great chance to work with the XFC, their fighters, enthusiastic fans, great staff and a fabulous North Carolina Athletic Commission. All were incredibly enjoyable to be around and allowed me to give my best work to add to the success of the show. The next day I traveled to Columbus, Ohio and got to see an excellent card at the UVC’s best show yet. Talent from as far away as Team Alpha Male in California came out to prove their worth and I was honored to get to work with that group again.

This Wednesday I will be a guest on MMAMadhouse.com’s live show where I can be heard from 7:30-8pm PST. Should be a blast to dialogue about the sport and my role within it. Then this weekend it will be a bit quiet as I will assist with a local MMA charity fundraiser in Vincennes, Indiana and otherwise recover from a long weekend of travel.

Keep up with my schedule online here, at CompleteCutman.com or follow me on Twitter @completecutman.

The Mixed Martial Arts industry is a fast-paced, growing space which features a variety of strong options for fighters and others in the industry to gain exposure. The very social media savvy industry has a plethora of strong news and fan sites with online MMA radio programs interviewing many top up and coming fighters, coaches and, at least in the case of Intimidation Clothing, fast-rising brands. Through this the Intimidation brand has take strong advantage of opportunities with radio programs, both online and through traditional radio waves, to get the brand’s message out to the masses.

A man with a background in marketing and media, Intimidation Clothing President & CEO Luke Jernigan has been fortunate enough to appear as a guest on multiple MMA radio programs in the past two months including Bluegrass MMA, Pull No Punches Radio, MMA Madhouse, The Takedown MMA Radio and more. In addition, the Intimidation brand has run ads on Fox Sports Radio’s UFC programming in Youngstown and on ESPN Radio in Ashtabula, Ohio. Jernigan also appears weekly as the MMA correspondent on ESPN 970 WFUN where he keeps fans informed on the latest MMA events on both the national and local stages. In addition to all of the above, the Intimidation brand announced in early August that they will be the title sponsor of a new weekly Ohio MMA Radio program.

While the interviews have been plentiful of late the brand does not plan to slow down any in the coming months. Always active on the marketing front Jernigan expects more opportunities like this to come as the brand continues to grow. “We continue to open new doors and build new relationships with gyms, fighters and promotions across the USA,” said Jernigan. “Add to it our expanding presence in boxing, motocross and other sports and the sky’s the limit.”
