Weekend Recap: Intimidation’s push in St. Louis market a huge success, national presence continues to grow

Intimidation Clothing continues to sponsor the top MMA fighters and organizations in the Midwest week in and week out, and while many saw this past weekend as an “off weekend,” the Intimidation brand was still hard at work, sponsoring a victorious Eric Irvin as well as three different events in three states.

Eric Irvin MMARising lightweight prospect Eric Irvin (6-3) is now unbeaten while wearing the Intimidation brand, as the Missouri native took home a victory in his home state in the co-main event at the MMA Sport Federation event. Intimidation was also a sponsor of the MMA Sport Federation event, as the organization packed the house in St. Louis for a successful showing. The event marked the first venture into St. Louis for the Intimidation brand as the company’s footprint continues to grow at a rapid pace.

In Kentucky, Intimidation sponsored the HOOKnSHOOT event, as the second-longest running organization in the U.S. took its show on the road from Indiana to Kentucky. The Intimidation booth remained busy throughout the night at HOOKnSHOOT as well as at the Intimidation sponsored the Caged Madness 25 event in Akron, Ohio as the brand continues to sponsor and support both Midwestern-based MMA promotions.

Intimidation also sponsored flyweight Joe Pegg in the RFA 8 main event, which aired on AXS TV as well as Carson Gainey at the MMA Sport Federation event as both fell short of their goal of having their hands raised.

Multiple Intimidation Clothing sponsored fighters featured in AXS TV’s Best of 2012

Multiple Intimidation-sponsored fighters were featured in AXS TV’s “Best of 2012,” including three fighters who helped expand the Intimidation brand to a much larger national base in 2012.

Chidi Njokuani MMAThe most notable of the fighters who were featured was Chidi “Bang Bang” Njokuani (pictured, right), who was sponsored by Intimidation during his destruction of Phil Dace at RFA 4 in November. The younger brother of UFC lightweight Anthony Njokuani put a beatdown on Dace for more than two rounds, before eventually stopping him via TKO just 41 seconds into the third frame. The win was the fourth in a row for Njokuani, who has also won 7 of his last 8. He is expected to return to the cage in early 2013.

Other fighters who were featured were Chris “The Hammer” Holland and David Mays. Holland was sponsored by Intimidation in his August loss to Braulio Estima at TitanFC 24 in August, and Mays was sponsored by the popular clothing brand in his XFC 19 bout against Nick Newell, which he lost via KO in the first round.

In addition to the above, Johnny Buck’s KO of Ricky Rainey at XFC 19 in Charlotte was one of the cable TV station’s top knockouts of the year.

Intimidation sponsored Njokuani and Shamhalaev pick up weekend wins on national TV

Two fighters sporting Intimidation gear picked up wins on national TV over the weekend, as Chidi Njokuani (9-3) and Shah Shamhalaev (11-1-1) both earned knockouts. Shah Shamhalaev MMA - BellatorNjokuani picked up a third round TKO over Phil Dace in the co-main event at RFA 4, which was broadcast live on AXS TV, while Shamhalaev earned a first round TKO over Mike Richman at Bellator 79, which was aired on MTV 2.

Njokuani, whose brother Anthony is a lightweight contender in the UFC, completely outclassed Phil Dace with his adept striking skills, eventually earning a TKO early in the third round. “Chidi Bang Bang” became the first person to stop Dace, as he picked up his seventh win via knockout or TKO in his career. Ranked as one of the top welterweight prospects in the sport, the 23-year-old could now receive some attention from larger organizations.

In just his second fight in the U.S., Team Bombsquad product Shamhalaev picked up his second TKO win and earned a spot in the Bellator featherweight finals with a TKO over Mike Richman, who was also sponsored by Intimidation in the bout. Chidi Njokuani MMAShamhalaev will now face the winner of next week’s bout between Wagnney Fabiano and Rad Martinez in December for $100,000 and a shot at the Bellator featherweight title.
