Multiple Intimidation alums ready for the big leagues

Intimidation Clothing has long been a supporter of Local MMA and up-and-coming regional mixed martial arts talent, and has sponsored many fighters who have made it to the national level. Among these fighters are Stipe Miocic, Jessica Eye, Brian Rogers, Daniel Straus, Cody Garbrandt, Donny Walker and more.

Adam Milstead MMAThree more fighters who have been sponsored by the Intimidation brand in the past are also nearing UFC-level status, and could potentially sign with the organization in the near future.

Fast-rising heavyweight Adam Milstead (7-1) has won seven straight bouts, and all have been via stoppage. After fighting through some injuries, “The Prototype” is now healthy and racked up back-to-back TKO wins earlier this year in under two minutes each. Undefeated at heavyweight, the Pittsburgh native continues to be a force of destruction, as his wins over Lewis Rumsey and Robert Morrow show why he could be in the UFC before long. With the Octagon headed to his hometown in February, Milstead could be a great candidate to make his UFC debut at UFC Fight Night 82.

Dan Spohn MMA - BellatorDan Spohn (12-4) has already tasted a bit of UFC success, as he was on The Ultimate Fighter 19 where he produced one of the sickest knockouts in show history in just 10 seconds as he stopped Tyler King in the preliminary round. Now back on the regional scene, Spohn has been dominant, producing a 4-0 record with three stoppage wins. The former NAAFS light heavyweight champion, “Dragon” recently took a calculated risk moving up to heavyweight where he captured the CFFC title with a second round knockout win over Zu Anyanwu in December.

Mark Cherico (9-1) says he’s retired, but the Intimidation alum continues to be active in MMA. After recently opening up a gym in his native Pittsburgh area, “The Pride of Bloomfield” continues to be incredibly popular in the area and could also be a perfect candidate for UFC Pittsburgh. Mark Cherico MMAMost recently, Cherico competed in what was announced as his last MMA bout, defeating Nate Landwehr via submission at Gladiators of the Cage 19 in October.

Intimidation Clothing & UrFight announce merger of two of Local MMA’s biggest supporters

Intimidation Clothing, LLC and UrFight are pleased to announce that the two companies have agreed to terms to team up in a never before seen merger. UrFight & Intimidation ClothingThe two brands, which both cater to the MMA/Combat Sports Industry, plan to take their individual strengths and combine them in what will surely benefit MMA fighters, gyms and promoters on the local level. After years of competing against each other, a newly-formed collaboration will work to better serve Local MMA and expand the awareness for both brands across the globe.

Long known for their personalized MMA fighter shirts, UrFight has proven to be the hardest working brand in the industry. Commonly seen at multiple Local MMA events across the South, Midwest and East Coast, the brand has sponsored several hundred fighters across the USA and plans to continue to expand their sponsorship roster.

“For years I have had a tremendous amount of respect for the UrFight team,” said Intimidation Clothing Founder Luke Jernigan, who will now serve as the Director of Marketing & PR for both brands. “They are the only brand that I ever found that could out-hustle Intimidation when we were at our peak, and their outside-of-the-box thinking is something I have always envied. To be able to team up with this group is going to be tremendous for the Local MMA market as we build both brands and take them to the next level.”

To kick the partnership off, both UrFight and Intimidation products will be available for sale at the Happy Valley Fight Series event in Elizabethton, Tennessee on Saturday, December 5th.

MMA fighters looking to benefit from the merger can apply for sponsorship with UrFight as long as they have a fight lined up in the near future. Continued expansion of Intimidation Clothing’s sponsorship program will be announced in the coming months.

#LocalMMA Monday: MMAmadhouse.com

One of the beautiful parts of the #LocalMMA community is the symmetry that is felt, from fighters to organizations to sponsors. A major part of that symmetry is the growing Local MMA media. MMA Madhouse - Support Local MMAWith multiple websites dedicated to covering different regions of the Local MMA scene, there’s one major player that is a bastion for regional MMA coverage.

Founded in 2007, MMAmadhouse.com was originally dedicated to covering the UFC and Zuffa events exclusively. But when Carl Mortensen purchased the site in 2009, he realized that in order to stand out, he’d have to develop a niche that would bring fans from all over the globe. Instead of trying to compete with hundreds of other sites covering the same UFC events, he instead decided to take a different path.

I immediately dropped all the Zuffa content and launched my dream to dedicate MMAmadhouse.com to supporting local MMA on a global level with no borders!,” Mortensen said.

The initial days of the new MMAmadhouse saw the site covering mostly organizations in the U.S. Pacific Northwest and Canada, where Mortensen is based. Cage Zombies RadioBut then he contacted combat sports super fan Skippy Cohen, who eventually became Mortensen’s vice president after he helped take the page to new levels.

I’d always thought that I was a hardcore MMA fan but Skippy’s knowledge was light years beyond mine,” Mortensen said. “In no time I decided to give him the title of Vice President and we began slowly picking up other #TeamMadHouse members from across the globe to where we now have a family of nearly 40 people.”

MMAmadhouse also has its own radio network, with multiple popular shows including MMAmadhouse LiVE, FULL GUARD FIGHT RADIO, Cage Zombies Radio, and more. The shows highlight some of the biggest names in local MMA from around the globe, giving yet another outlet for fans to hear budding stars.

Local MMA - IntimidationIt’s not an understatement to say that MMAmadhouse would be on the Mt. Rushmore of Local MMA, and that’s a testament to the hard work and dedication that the site’s owners and staff show on a daily basis.

Our goal has always been to support aspiring fighters, journalists and photographers,” Mortensen said. “To give them an opportunity to become accustomed with media or interviewing fighters etc. To hone their skills outside of the ring.”

MMAmadhouse is a hub for Local MMA, giving fans of the sport a one-stop shop to witness a different type of MMA coverage. In short, MMAmadhouse puts a regional product on a global stage.

When asked to describe MMAmadhouse in one sentence, Mortensen stated simply, “We’re a lifeline of exposure.”

Fans can also follow MMAmadhouse, “Carl the Madman“, and Skippy Cohen on Twitter.

Intimidation continues strong push into Michigan’s Local MMA market thanks to Shad Thomsen’s resiliency

For years now the Intimidation Clothing name has been known as one of the biggest supporters of Local MMA across the country, but especially in the Midwest and surrounding states. The Ohio-based company regularly attends MMA events in Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, Kentucky, Pennsylvania and New York and sponsors events across the nation and now in Canada and England. But while the company continues to grow, it is the people behind the scenes that deserve much of the credit.

Intimidation's Shad Thomsen with UFC Lightweight Daron CruickshankA former MMA fighter himself, Shad Thomsen is better known on Facebook as “Michigan Intimidation Distributor.” A huge MMA fan and regular at the weight bench, Thomsen is a worker – he grew up on a small farm in Sidney, Michigan and has had to work for everything he has achieved in life. What makes this even more impressive is his constant battle with dyslexia. “Shad has trouble getting his point across at times, both in speaking and online,” stated Luke Jernigan, President and CEO of Intimidation Clothing, LLC. “But what impresses me about Shad is his consistency, his resiliency and his drive. Add in a huge heart and a genuine desire to do things the right way and it shows that his character is undeniable. This is exactly why I love having him as a member of Team Intimidation.”

Thomsen is a former high school wrestler and track athlete who has trained for the Mixed Martial Arts world at American Muscle and Mid Michigan MMA over the years. Also a fan of weight lifting, Thomsen’s favorite quote is simply “It still your set” – something he got from CT Fletcher. After a 3-5 fighting career Thomsen was recruited into the business by Phil “The Voice” Davey, the legendary Michigan ring and cage announcer. Davey knew of Thomsen’s drive and love of the fighting game and saw an opportunity to help him do more inside the MMA industry.

Over the past year Thomsen has taken his booth of Intimidation Clothing merchandise across the state of Michigan to MMA events such as Mad Men Promotions, Capital City Fight Championships, Exiled MMA, Prison City Fight League, Empire Cage Combat and more. In addition, with Intimidation’s new deal in place with the newly-formed Lifetime MMA organization in Grand Rapids, MI, Thomsen will again be shaking hands with the fans and making deals on top-quality clothing from a brand that customers can trust.

Pictured to the right with Intimidation alum and current UFC Lightweight Daron Cruickshank, also a Michigan native, Thomsen has trained alongside the likes of Glen Baily, and the professional MMA brother and sister duo of Victor and Alanna Jones. Says Thomsen, “Victor is my little brother – I owe him for helping me. He is always there for and me.”
