Featherweights flock to Intimidation

Intimidation Clothing prides itself on identifying the top upcoming talent in mixed martial arts, and many of the sport’s top featherweight prospects have been sponsored by the brand.

Currently one of the sport’s hottest prospects, Pittsburgh’s Khama Worthy (6-2) recently improved to 4-0 with three impressive knockouts since dropping to the featherweight division last year. Frank Caraballo MMAA member of Team Intimidation since his amateur career, “The Death Star” scored another big finish at PinnacleFC 7 on Memorial Day weekend, where he knocked out Anthony Morgan (5-3) in the co-main event in Pittsburgh. The flashy, athletic striker is one of a plethora of talented fighters at or near 145lbs at Fight Club Pittsburgh where the Intimidation name has been a mainstay for years.

Intimidation has also been a longtime sponsor of NAAFS featherweight champion Frank Caraballo (12-7), who has long been lauded as one of the top prospects in mixed martial arts. Now training and coaching at Cal Crowell Fitness, Athletic & MMA Training Center, “The Tank” (pictured, right) is set to headline the Driven MMA/NAAFS Fight Nite in the Flats X card in Cleveland on June 7th. As one of the most popular fighters in Northeast Ohio, Caraballo has won 7 of his last 10 fights and looks to pickup another win in front of the home crowd in Cleveland.

Cody Stevens MMACody “The Wolverine” Stevens (11-7-1) has been sponsored by Intimidation many times in the past and is known as one of Ohio’s most popular and durable fighters. Known for his willingness to fight anybody at any time, Stevens (pictured, left) has stepped in with the likes of Shinya Aoki, Jimmie Rivera, Dustin Neace, Wilson Reis, Donny Walker and more in his storied career. Having recently fought as a bantamweight as well, Stevens recently became a member of the Strong Style Fight Team, which is an official Intimidation dealer in Northeast Ohio. Stevens has also lived and trained in Thailand, where he is a member of Tiger Muay Thai and was set to face in-state rival Caraballo before an injury postponed that battle.

Outside of the Ohio Valley, Intimidation is a longtime sponsor of former CFA featherweight champion Jordan Parsons (10-1), who has posted three straight victories after a yearlong layoff. Most recently, he made his Bellator debut at Bellator 117 in Iowa, where he earned his third career knockout victory with a 1-2 combination to put his opponent to sleep just 4 seconds into the second round. With a very good record and a win inside Bellator’s cage under his belt, Parsons is vying for a tournament spot in Bellator MMA’s deep 145lb division.

One of the newest members of Team Intimidation, Terry House (6-8) is one of the Chicagoland area’s most popular fighters. A 4-time veteran of the Intimidation-sponsored Colosseum Combat MMA promotion in Kokomo, Indiana, House (pictured, right) also promotes anti-bullying in the area. Terry House MMAHe will be back in action on May 31st in Hammond, Indiana for the Intimidation sponsored United Combat League event outside of Chicago, just across the Indiana/Illinois border.

One of the longest-running sponsorships for the Intimidation brand in the 145lb division is with Bobby Emmons. One of the first fighters from Indiana ever sponsored by Intimidation, Emmons fights at both 145 and 155lbs and has his own signature tee from the popular brand which is the largest supporter of Local MMA in the Midwest, if not the USA. Emmons is a former top contender for the highly-respected Colosseum Combat MMA promotion in Kokomo, Indiana and has the clever nickname “White Trash BJJ.” Most recently, Emmons took a fight in Pittsburgh on a week’s notice and scored a 1st round submission win to improve his pro record to 4-3.

While Donny “Eagle Eye” Walker has fought just once since April of 2012, the 2-time UFC veteran has a resume few can argue with. A member of the GriffonRawl MMA Academy, Walker was one of the first fighters ever sponsored by the Intimidation brand and his signature tee was released just before winning the NAAFS featherweight title in August 2011. A police officer by day, Walker has faced many top names at 135 and 145 pounds in the Midwest.

Kyle Kyote Rozewski MMAFinally, Kyle “Kyote” Rozewski is one of the hottest featherweight prospects in the Midwest. After starting his pro MMA career at 0-2 Rozewski made the move and transition from near his hometown in Buffalo, New York to Evolve MMA in Medina, Ohio. Since that change “Kyote” (pictured, left) has gone 4-1 with his lone loss coming to retired top MMA prospect Anthony Durnell (14-4). Over a three year pro career Rozewski’s three losses have come to three fighters with a combined pro record of 21-5, and his most recent win came at the expense of one of Ohio MMA’s long-standing warriors in Dustin “The Reaper” Kempf in March 2014. Rozewski will look to continue his hot streak opposite Wes Hanson (2-0) at Driven MMA’s NAAFS: Fight Nite in the Flats X in Cleveland on June 7th.

The aforementioned Kempf and Durnell, both Team Intimidation members for years, know tough battles just like those mentioned above. While Kempf, also a police officer by day, has fought a ringer over the years including Walker, Caraballo, Rozewski and top bantamweight prospect Isaiah Chapman, “The Reaper” continues to remain active with a 6-7 pro record. Meanwhile Durnell, a member of Fight Club Pittsburgh, announced his retirement from the sport in late 2013 after a 5-1 record in his final 6 pro fights.

Looking to Intimidation’s rich crop of alumni, the brand has also worked with a plethora of top 145lb fighters. Mark Cherico MMAAmong that list is Pittsburgh MMA stars Mark “The Pride of Bloomfield” Cherico (6-0) and Justin Steave (6-4), former MTV Caged star Tony Kelley (2-0) and rising Ohio MMA star Antonio Castillo, Jr.. While Cherico (pictured, right) was sponsored by Intimidation in his final amateur fights and several professional fights, he remains one of the top prospects in the featherweight division and is rumored to be near the top of the UFC’s watch list. His teammate Justin “The Hawk” Steave was sponsored by Intimidation as an amateur and early in his pro MMA career as he won 4 straight fights in 2012-2013.

Tony “Primetime” Kelley was sponsored by Intimidation in both of his first two professional bouts, where he has earned victories in both with 1st round stoppages. Finally Castillo, a winner of 6 of his last 7 fights and the past 4 straight, was a staple of the Intimidation brand at MMA events in Cleveland for years as he built his name into one of the most avoided featherweights in the Midwest.

On the national stage, Intimidation has sponsored multiple notable fighters in Bellator’s featherweight tournaments, which has become a cornerstone division for the organization throughout its history. shah-shamhalaev01_400In the past, Intimidation has sponsored former Bellator Featherweight Champion and tournament winner Daniel Straus, tournament winner and Shah Shamhalaev (pictured, left), as well as Mike Richman, Marlon Sandro, Fabricio Guerreiro, Mike Corey, and Genair da Silva.

Intimidation Clothing & Kyle “Kyote” Rozewski agree to expanded sponsorship deal

Intimidation Clothing is pleased to announce and expanded sponsorship agreement with fast-rising featherweight Kyle “Kyote” Rozewski. A product of Evolve MMA in Medina, Ohio and a native of Western New York, Rozewski has been a valuable member of Team Intimidation since first being sponsored by the brand in August 2013. Kyle Rozewski MMARozewski (3-3 pro) will don the Intimidation brand throughout 2014 at all of his fights and events he attends as a fan, teammate and more. That will begin at Driven MMA/NAAFS on March 1st in Canton, Ohio where he will sport the red, black and white Intimidation International tee as his walkout shirt for the event.

Most recently Rozewski scored a 1st round submission victory at NAAFS: Caged Vengeance 14 last August and he is expected to be one of many Intimidation-sponsored fighters on the inaugural Driven MMA fight card on March 1st in Canton, Ohio. After an 0-2 start to his pro career, “Kyote” has won 3 of 4 fights with his lone loss during that stretch coming opposite Intimidation alum Anthony Durnell (10-2) by decision. During his 9-fight amateur career he was involved in 4 title fights and he holds an unblemished kickboxing record at 155 pounds.  In addition, Rozewski is a Hayastan Level 3 grappler under Norman Yonkers and first degree black belt in Kenpo under Robert Koch. In his three professional wins, Rozewski has scored a submission in each fight.

Kyle Kyote Rozewski MMAA well-rounded member of the MMA community, Rozewski is also known for writing articles, training fighters, and even providing commentary for MMA events. He is a commentator for both the Pinnacle FC and TNT Fight Series promotions in Western PA and NY respectively, both Intimidation-sponsored MMA promotions.

Intimidation Clothing October Athlete of the Month – Anthony Durnell

It’s not often that fighters in combat sports get to go out on their own terms, as the definition of a warrior includes a competitive fighting spirit. But one such fighter who was able to go out on his own terms was Anthony Durnell, a member of Team Intimidation. He recently announced his retirement from mixed martial arts competition.

Anthony Durnell MMADurnell had a successful 18-fight career, including fights all over the world during his time in the United States Air Force. In 2012, he returned stateside, where he had his first fight at RFO Big Guns 9. He defeated Rustin Jones, and soon thereafter he became an official member of Team Intimidation.

“Intimidation has been absolutely phenomenal from the second [President] Luke [Jernigan] and I met,” Durnell said. “Always extremely professional, and they always went above and beyond. I’m going to continue to wear their gear. Not only because they make sick shirts, but because we need more people like those at that company.”

Durnell was extremely successful as a professional, going 14-4 including winning 5 of his last 6 bouts. He held a perfect 3-0 record for Pittsburgh’s Pinnacle FC, and he was reportedly slated to compete at a Bellator MMA event in November. But with a desire to spend more time with his family and coaching rather than fighting, he decided that now was the time for him to hang it up.

“Retiring from MMA was an extremely difficult and emotional decision,” Durnell said. “I have invested years, and years, into the sport. So much went into becoming a better Martial artist. But it was time for a number of reasons. The last year or so, I have realized that I get more satisfaction seeing my teammates and friends succeed. Guys like [Mark] Cherico, [Justin] Wilcox, [Kyle] Rozewski, [Khama] Worthy, [Cody] Garbrandt and all my Thai students, than I would when I would win my own fight. I’ll still be around the fight game. It will never be too far from my mind. Plus, my wife and I are extremely excited to welcome our third child into our home around March. So who knows we may have another martial artist storming through the Fight Club Pittsburgh cages soon.”

Tony Durnell MMADurnell started his pro career in 2008 with a fight in Germany, and he started his career 8-0. Since returning to the U.S., Durnell lost just one bout, to top featherweight prospect Cody Stevens.

“My career was blessed beyond compare,” Durnell said. “Just to have the opportunities to fight in some of the world’s oldest and most beautiful cities was incredible. Cities like Helsinki, Lucern, and Kaiserslautern, insane! Some of my favorite memories were people who couldn’t speak any English at all trying to tell you how awesome your fight was. Another was beating the eventual BAMMA (Brittish Association of Mixed Martial Arts) Featherweight Champion, Alan Omer, in front of his home crowd. Then to top it off by getting the opportunity to train at Pittsburgh’s premier MMA gym, and end on a three fight win streak was a beautiful ending.”

Durnell has always been known as not only an exciting fighter inside the cage, but also a respectful and honorable man outside it. He will always be a valued member of Team Intimidation.

Check out the video of his final fight below, a victory over Amran Aliyev at Pinnacle FC’s Pittsburgh Challenge Series 4 in August.

Intimidation Clothing once again had a very busy weekend, as the summer months have set a new standard for the brand. August has been one of the best in company history, and along with providing record numbers in sales, Intimidation continues to sponsor the many of the top fighters and MMA promotions in the Midwest. As the brand featured crews at events in Indiana, Michigan and multiple events in Ohio, it was the Intimidation sponsored pros that did the hard work at events across the nation.

Near Pittsburgh, Intimidation sponsored fighters Shane Chojnacki (3-0) and Anthony Durnell (10-2) took home victories in the main and co-main events, with both fighters receiving great fights from tough opponents. Chojnacki competed for Pinnacle Fighting Championships in his hometown of the Steel City for the first time, and the Fight Club Pittsburgh product earned a second round submission over previously unbeaten foe Reggie Parks (2-1). Durnell put on a Fight of the Night performance against Amran Aliyev (3-3) in the co-headliner, and announced that he has signed a developmental deal with Bellator MMA, where he will compete in November.
